For the car chases in my life…

Disclaimer: The songs that are played on this blog will have very minimal swearing and for the most part will be clean in content. At times I will not be able to edit the video versions or the copy of the song may not be able to be edited. For this I will post this disclaimer before the post. Nevertheless and notwithstanding, the driving beat, loud guitar, and less than melodic singing of some songs (if such can be so considered) cannot be left out of my soundtrack. That said there will be a disclaimer on any song that I post that may offend the ears or should be listened to at a low volume.

This song is the song I play when I am in the mood to get pumped up or am about to begin the winding down process or am in the process of being chased by an alien robot looking for my grandfather’s glasses. I was first introduced to this song through the 2007 release of the movie Transformers. The clip for the movie is embedded here. And the song starts after they get into the car and as the cars explode from a cloud of dust to the driving beat of the song and the power chords on the guitar!! Inner Peace

There are books written, seminars given, courses taught and even religions devoted to the discovery of inner peace, qi, or serenity now. I have found throughout my life that a piece of music written in the late 17th century provides for me direct access to my own inner peace. No matter where I am, no matter what is happening, no matter the mood I am in, nor the circumstances of how I got there can keep me from the inner peace, the centering balance provided by Pachelbel's Canon (also known as Canon in D).

The rendition here embedded is an acoustical guitar version performed by artist Andrei Krylov and published on "Classical Guitar Music for Romantic Wedding Ceremony".

As a piece of music a canon is a contrapuntal piece in which each successively entering voice presents the initial theme usually transformed in a strictly consistent way. (Merriam/Webster Dictionary). As it revolves and each "entering voice" presents the melody to me I am transported to my sanctuary where I find my inner peace.

The Beginning

Everyone, at one time or another has been asked the question: “what’s your favorite song?” or “What’s your favorite band?” I have responded to that question differently at different times based on a mood, recent experience or even just for the pure shock and awe factor that comes with saying “yeah, I like country! What of it!?” So just the other day I was thinking to myself… “Self, maybe it would be best to have a soundtrack to your life…” And it was then that my idea began to take shape and I realized in the day and age in which we live I can actually put into “journal-style” form for posterity a compendium of songs that have impacted or influenced my life, or that I just like for no other reason than they please me.

So, here it is…the Soundtrack of my life…a compendium of songs…like them or love them is for you as loving them is for me. Be patient with me as I begin for I am new to the blog-o-sphere as more than a passive reader.
